I was born in the holy city of Varanasi. But I consider myself from Lucknow. There is a substantial reason behind it. My medical education is from Lucknow. Yes I am a medical graduate from the elite King George Medical College of Lucknow. It is one of the five medical colleges of India which was there before India got her independence. The graduation years really shape the kind of person you are when you grow up. Since we are so naive during the school years, college has a great impact on us. In fact college is the first time when we actually venture out independently, without our parents. So its the time we develop our own identities. Lucknow is famous for so many things. Its the city of Nawabs...everything is lavish and royal. From the food habits to architecture to wardrobes and all, everything has a 'Nawabi' flavour to it. During my MBBS years, I had explored the whole of Lucknow city by its length and breadth. From trying different cuisines to hanging out at the most fa...

Music is the soul of life

I feel that everyone would agree with the title of my post. There is hardly anyone in this world who does not love music. However there are two types of music lovers. One (the majority) people who simply love listening to music. Second are the musicians. By being a musician I mean those who learn music. This covers a broad range of people. From professional musicians to tiny tots who have just joined music classes, all these people swear by music. Its unfortunate that we in India don’t give importance to off beat career choices. Academics is a must even if the child is weak or has a flair in extra curricular activities. Thankfully the scenario today is changing when it comes to taking up music and sports as a career. I belonged to old school where academics was must. So I joined coaching classes for cracking the Medical Entrance Examinations as I dreamed of becoming a doctor. However I also belong to a family where cultural education is a must. After all I hail from Varana...

The Dubai Grand

Image
What does come to your mind when you think of Dubai? Grandeur I suppose! Well  grandeur comes at a price too. When we were planning a trip to Dubai, we wanted a fantastic trip on a budget. I mean just to experience Dubai in a lavish way , we could not possibly put our future vacations at risk! This trip was organized by my father in law but I as usual was the planner. I tried to put together a fantastico trip that we all would remember in the future. One of the most important part of any trip is the stay. Dubai is known for extravagant hotels like the Burj Al Arab, Palm Atlantis, etc. But that requires unlimited moolah which we could spend in shopping or sight seeing. Dubai is also a shopper’s paradise…remember? Well my job was to find that perfect little hotel that fulfilled all our criteria and turn our vacation into a fantastico one! Fortunately with the help of few sites, I was able to do so! So I zeroed down on The Dubai Grand, a 3 star hotel run by an NRI family....

Gold Mornings

Good Morning world! Hope you have a fabulous start to the day! Morning shows the day. I have learnt this statement in childhood and had been using it in my life ever since. I have seen morning actually defines the rest of the day. If I start on a good note, my day goes splendid. And if I start on a not so good note, my day goes sour! Hence I make it a point to start my day with a bang! This is how I turn my mornings into gold mornings. The first thing I do after waking up is brush my teeth. I am fond of fancy brushes; and when my toothbrush is Colgate Charcoal 360 , then my mornings become #Colgate360GoldMornings. Then I exercise. Everyone needs workout. Exercise is not for losing or gaining weight. It is necessary for overall good health. Being a medico myself I can't ignore the benefits of exercising. Workout releases endorphins (happy hormones) in the blood stream and I am cheerful for the rest of the day. Though I have to agree that waking up and exercisin...

Why India needs Wind Energy

I just came back from a forbidden country,. I am deliberately not mentioning its name to avoid undue trouble . I was sent there to perform surgeries and was there for a week. When I landed safely in India, not only me but my family and all those related to me breathed a sigh of relief. Yes I was back, safely in one piece. Whenever such experiences happen, I feel so safe in my own country. Homeland is like a mother in whose lap you can cuddle and forget all the worldly problems. India nurtures us like any other mother. It feeds us, keep us safe and provides with all the amenities one requires to lead a good life. I in turn serve my country by treating the sick. There are many ways by which we can serve our country. Joining the army, not wasting food, resources, keeping the surroundings clean are few of them. Here I am discussing about saving our resources. As you all know, fossil fuels like coal and petroleum have limited reserves. We are a country of 1.2 billion p...

The city that never stops

Image
What did come to your mind when you read the title? Okay I am not talking about New York or Tokyo. Think within your country too. We have two such cities which are in the list of biggest cities in the world...Delhi and Mumbai. Thankfully I have been to several other cities which feature in the top 20 largest cities..Manila, Bangkok, Dubai etc. But my heart lies where my home is. After travelling to eight countries, my favourite city in the world is non other than Delhi. I have not been brought up in Delhi. My primary education has been in Varanasi and secondary in Lucknow. But I moved to Delhi after I completed medicine in search of work and have never looked back since. Wide roads and beautiful architecture...my favourite city: Delhi This is almost my tenth year in Delhi and now I am fully settled here. I have a voter ID and car registration of Delhi. That makes me a true Delhiite. I believe when it comes to drive, design and connect, nothing can beat Delhi. Delhi has ...

Guilt Free Dessert

Image
So how many of you have sweet tooth? For starters, I did not have one. In fact I used to detest sweets. Before meeting my fiance, I loved only Rasgulla and Kheer Kadam. But I don't know what happened after my marriage, I started gorging on sweets like anything! You must have known by now that I am a terrible cook. I cannot be called a cook even. I don't even know how to make a nice cup of tea. But the blogger in me evokes the strangest of desires in me. I ventured into pasta previously for the sake of blogging and now I am into desserts! For this one my wife taught me a super simple recipe which turned out to be ehm super delicious! My wife was so proud of me! People may tend to avoid desserts because of various reasons...calorie conscious, weight losers, diabetic and other lifestyle disorder sufferers. My recipe is for all as I have substituted sugar with Sugar Free Natura . It contains sucralose and is a healthier alternative to sugar. The taste remains impecca...
